Food Forest Garden

Building Food Forest

A food forest is a unique type of garden, a self-sustaining source of produce, accomplished by inter-planting fruit and nut trees, berry bushes, perennial plants, herbs, vines, vegetables, and mushrooms to provide an ideal symbiotic ecosystem. Each of our food forests is custom designed and built to fill the needs of the family or the community for which it’s created. Here, in zone 5, we can incorporate over 100 varieties of edible plants into a single food forest, and as the forest matures, its production of food will only increase. Some perennial plants will produce food for up to 50 years. In a permaculture food forest, we plant not only for this season, but for the future.
